Soil Testing & Fertility Recommendations
Soil Testing Fowler MI
Soil fertility recommendations
Today’s farmers need the most accurate information they can get to make good decisions about inputs. One of the most important sources of information for a farmer is a complete, current, understanding of the soil. Feldpausch Precision Services can help you achieve this through soil testing.
Soil testing is a current snapshot of the health of the soil. As crops grow, nutrient availability decreases. Conditions will fluctuate naturally based on microbial activity, weather, and production management decisions. As a result, soil tests alone do not give farmers a complete picture, however, regular testing and good interpretation of results is a critical piece of this puzzle.
Soil testing is an important starting point for growing crops. The results show what nutrients exist, how favorable the root environment is, and what can be done to alter the root environment to a farmer’s advantage.
At Feldpausch Precision Services, we offer soil sampling based off acreage grids and soil types. We identify points using GPS and sample 8-10 cores of dirt at each to create composite samples from each point. Samples are sent to Waypoint Analytical and analyzed for: organic matter, phosphorous, potassium, calcium, magnesium, pH, buffer pH and CEC. We create fertility recommendations based off the nutrient levels in the soil, desired pH and growers’ yield goals.
Without soil testing, managing crop nutrients is difficult due to the complex nature of their interactions with the soil. The team at Feldpausch Precision Services is here to consult on fertilizer and lime recommendations.
